The incoming Trump Administration looks like a family affair - a mob family

Terry Wigmore

"No other candidate for the White House this year has anything close to Trump’s record of repeated social and business dealings with mobsters, swindlers, and other crooks. Professor Douglas Brinkley, a presidential historian, said the closest historical example would be President Warren G. Harding and Teapot Dome, a bribery and bid-rigging scandal in which the interior secretary went to prison. But even that has a key difference: Harding’s associates were corrupt but otherwise legitimate businessmen, not mobsters and drug dealers." - https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2016/05/donald-trump-2016-mob-organized-crime-213910/

Buckle-up! This is what we knew BEFORE Trump was elected for the 2nd time. We knew a lot about his corruption during his first presidency: TWO impeachments: the famous "Quid-Pro-Quo" on the call with Ukraine's president Zelensky before the Russian attack on Ukraine, and the second for inciting an attempted coup on January 6th, 2020 - and in both impeachments, the Republicans in the Senate could have convicted Trump and that would have been the end of the story of Trump's political career, and he would likely be behind bars as I type this.

In between his presidencies we learned a lot about his crimes before, during and after his first presidency through the court cases and charges over the Secret Documents stashed at Mar-a-Lago, his charges of election interference in Georgia (" look, Brad, all I need you to find is 11,780 votes, ok?" https://www.brennancenter.org/our-work/research-reports/fact-check-trumps-georgia-call-raffensperger) and the Trump charity case

Trump misled, embellished, over-stated, exaggerated, fudged, lied and corrupted his way through 4 years of inept governance, Let's summarize those 4 years:

  1. Promised to build the wall between the US and Mexico: However, only 80 miles of new barriers have been built where there were none before - that includes 47 miles of primary wall, and 33 miles of secondary wall built to reinforce the initial barrier. (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46748492)

  2. Promised to work so hard for the American people he would not have time to golf (which he vehemetly attacked Obama for doing): "(Trump) won’t have time to play golf if elected president. But he has made more than 250 visits to his golf clubs since he took office—a record for any president—including more trips during the pandemic than meetings with Dr. Fauci. The total financial cost to America? More than $136 million." https://prospect.org/politics/trumps-40-biggest-broken-promises/

  3. He said coronavirus would “go away without a vaccine.” - over 400,000 Americans died while Trump was president. Trump tossed away Obama's NSC Pandemic Preparedness playbook before Covid arrived leaving the US ill-prepared for Covid -https://www.pbs.org/newshour/nation/obama-team-left-pandemic-playbook-for-trump-administration-officials-confirm

  4. Trump wanted loyalty above competence, in every department from the FBI to the CIA, to the Justice Department and even wanted his own generals to support his whims regarding troop use even on American soil. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/national-security/former-cia-officials-worry-trump-politicize-weaponize-intelligence-age-rcna179024 and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CA4JbsosMf0

  5. Trump said he’d drain the swamp. " Instead, he’s brought into his administration more billionaires, CEOs, and Wall Street moguls than in any administration in history, and he’s filled departments and agencies with former lobbyists, lawyers, and consultants who are crafting new policies for the same industries they used to work for." https://prospect.org/politics/trumps-40-biggest-broken-promises/

Project 2025 is scary in its breadth and depth of what the Trump 2.0 Administration may look like and try to accomplish. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/article/2024/jul/06/trump-project-2025-robert-reich

What is even scarier is the cast of no-goods Trump has so far appointed or hopes to appoint into his new Administration. A veritable list of ne'er-do-wells, conspiracy theorists, criminals and incompetence. When we compare the Administration of Biden to Trump's team, there really is no comparison. Biden valued expertise, experience, and tried to work "across the aisle" in many bi-partisan endeavours that Trump (though un-elected at the time, tried to block. The failure of the border protection bill was the most egregious example of this. Trump works only with those who pay lip service to him, give him all the credit, or in other ways demonstrated that their loyalty was to Trump, the man, not the American people.

Of specific concern, based on what we know so far, revenge and blind loyalty seem to be the operating principles of the new Trump 2.0. It is unbridled authoritarianism and has nothing to do with making America great.

So far,

What else can we expect? How about no qualified person appointed to any department where personal grievance and retribution are demanded from Trump. Expect unions to be busted, the EPA to be gutted, Green energy initiatives to be scuttled (especially EV's - despite Musk being immersed in decision-making for Trump), Department of Education to be removed, generals and military leaders to be fired, immigrants (illegal aliens are just a convenient target) to be rounded up, detainment camps to be built and far worse.

And this nightmare was what 49.8% of Americans wanted. It is what they voted for (or is it?) Was a fast one pulled over the American people through Trump's rhetoric and rallies. Great again?

History has already judged Trump 1.0 as the 2nd worst presidency in US history. Can Trump do worse in his 2nd Administration? Of course he can, The bottom has no limit when the "mob" is involved.
